Special education services are available to students meeting criteria between the ages of birth - 21 years old. Federal regulations outlined in the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA) guide referral, services, and placement decisions. DGF special education goals are: - To improve educational results for children and youth with disabilities through the provision of high quality special education instruction and related services
- To improve education benefit for children and youth with disabilities through the development and implementation of Interagency Service Delivery Systems
- To assure free and appropriate public education and early intervention services through state and local implementation of required procedures for finding, evaluation, instructing, and supporting children and youth with disabilities.
